The Kitchen Aid pro 500 Stand Mixer is enticing. It looks and feels like it could last a lifetime. It is large and heavy, but it has twice the power of a typical store-bought stand mixer. This should be displayed prominently in your kitchen. With a weight of 29 pounds, you’re unlikely to move it often.

The design is simple and effective. The heavy-duty arms snugly fit the mixing bowl, and the lever moves smoothly up and down. Because of the design and weight of the mixer, it remains stable on the kitchen counter while operating.

This Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer is too large if you only make one loaf of sweet bread or a batch of brownies at a time. The large paddle beater struggled to mix such a small amount of batter when I tried it with my favourite Banana Bread recipe. The batter did not sufficiently fill the bowl to allow it to do a good job. This mixer is designed for commercial kitchens and high-volume baking.
